A Bit About Me
My name is Sam, I'm a personal trainer in Penarth, Wales and I wanted to share my fitness journey as it just might connect with your own fitness journey, or one that you are about to embark on.
I got injured! And that injury was undiagnosed for 4 years which was really annoying. I didn't know what the hell was going on and the specialist wouldn't believe that there was anything wrong with me. They did some tests, they came back negative - it must have been in my head. Well eventually after I bugged them enough they sent me for an MRI and there it was, torn ligaments in both wrists!!
I had both wrists operated on and needed to pretty much rehab myself back to health. During this time my lower body wasn't doing too well either with recurring patella tendonitis which prevented me from running.
Why am I harping on about this?! It's very common to live with pain and have no idea what is going on. Sometimes it's picked up early on and sometimes it's not but what mostly happens is we adapt ourselves around this pain. We limit ourselves around the pain. The more we do this, the more we find other parts of our body develop issues and weaknesses.
I understand how it can frustrating not taking part in physical activities because it hurts! I understand that this can also lead to a spiral of self sabotage. Unhealthy eating, smoking, drinking whatever your "thing" is.
My mind and body were in a really bad state and it needed healing.
That's why I decided to fix myself and decided to try to be the best version of myself I could possibly be. I also knew this was going to take TIME. I'm still on that journey, I'd love to help you on yours.
I always explain why we are doing an exercise. Purpose behind movement is key to success in achieving where we are aiming to get too. You know your body! You know how it feels at any given movement. We adapt technique so that it feels right for your body and progress from there.
If this sounds like the sort of support you are looking for on your fitness journey, do get in touch. I'm based in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, and have a fully equipped private gym.

"What’s more important to me isn’t so much what I’ve lost (11 pounds and 6 inches!) but what I’ve gained. I have an increase in body awareness and confidence.
I had quite modest goals to start - I wanted to go to a spin class but was too intimidated by my lack of fitness and I wanted to be able to touch my toes! So... I did start spin, and I was soon able to touch my toes! One thing I really like about working with Samantha is once a goal is achieved she will push you to reach for another goal and I can’t wait to see what I can achieve next"
